My current project (tentatively called "Image Viewer") is an attempt to write a program that can display multiple images in a single instance. It was in many ways inspired by KuickShow, but as a Fluxbox user, I was looking for a program with fewer dependencies. My intention is that my Image Viewer will be built on Gtk+, without using any desktop environment-specific libraries.
